4 Ways to Thank Your Shipper Hero
Today, we all shop online and enjoy the comfort of it. But somewhere, we forget to acknowledge the most important person in this process: the delivery rider. These everyday heroes, who we like to call our ‘Shipper Heroes‘, have kept our communities moving in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, and it is important to take a moment to show your appreciation towards them. Delivery riders worldwide bear harsh weather conditions and work long gruelling hours to deliver items to customers on time but often go unrecognized for their hard work. Here are four ways to say “thank you” to these unsung heroes and make their job a little easier. These small acts of kindness combined have the potential to make a huge impact.
1. Consider Tipping
Make it a point to tip your shipper heroes by giving them a high rating or tipping them in cash or through the service provider’s app. This small token of appreciation can go a long way in making their job easier and help them do their work more effectively. By giving them tips, we show them that we appreciate the effort that they’ve put in.
2. Offer Your Rider Food and Water
Be respectful of the people who are delivering your items. Delivery riders often spend a long time traveling to and from your place, so you can show your appreciation by providing food and water for them. Even if you’re not home, you can keep a simple basket of packaged snacks, pieces of fruit, or bottles of water by the door. Even though it may seem like a small gesture, it will make your delivery person’s day, and you’ll be surprised at how many people will take you up on the offer!
3. Be Compassionate
Delivery riders are humans too, and it is important to treat them with kindness and respect, no matter their position. They are essential workers who are an integral part of the local community. Take a few moments to talk to your delivery riders; be compassionate, strike a conversation with them, or simply ask their name. Not only will this show them that you care, but it will also make them feel better about doing their job. You’ll be amazed at how much they have to say. Their days can seem long and lonely, but if you’re nice to them, they’ll remember you.
4. Display Your Appreciation
If you like to go the extra mile to show your delivery riders that you appreciate their hard work, do not underestimate the power of a simple ‘thank you’ note. For those of us who are practicing social distancing and prefer contactless deliveries, you can put up a poster on your door, thanking riders for their delivery and displaying your gratitude in a fun way. This will show them that you appreciate their hard work and that you’re grateful for their service. You’d be pleased to know how much of a difference a simple thank you can make to people, especially in the service industry.
Choose and print one of our designs below to display outside your home and make your shipper hero’s day a little brighter. You can also print the black and white versions of the posters and make showing gratitude a teaching moment and fun activity for your kids.
